After an eventful year, Christmas is approaching like every end of the year, bringing us nostalgia, warmth, and precious moments.
In these difficult times of Covid 19, what we really miss are the times of absolute peace, good laughter and family reunions around the dinner table. The evening of the 24th of December.
Choosing your Christmas tree :
Whether it’s a natural Christmas tree or an artificial one, it’s always around the fir tree that we gather during the Christmas holiday.
If you are still hesitating about the fir tree you’re going to buy, bear in mind that even Christmas is following the ecological trend of this year, that’s why a lot of people tend to buy natural, biodegradable, environment friendly Christmas trees this year.
Despite being more economical in the long run, an artificial Christmas tree is made of environmentally polluting materials, that’s why we invite you to have a look at your alternatives before buying your fir tree.
While growing in the forest, Real Christmas Trees support life by absorbing carbon dioxide and other polluting gasses and give us fresh oxygen. One acre of Christmas trees provides the daily oxygen requirement of almost 20 human beings.
The average family uses an artificial fir tree for an average of 7.5 years before throwing it in the garbage, where it will remain for centuries after disposal since it’s not recyclable.
Here’s a shortlist of the most demanded real christmas trees:
Spruce Tree : a traditional choice with a very good smell, the only inconvenience is its fragility.
Caucasian Fir : trendy, elegant and contrasts with the spruce tree, more solid and resistant to the high temperatures of a warm home during Christmas, has less smell than a spruce tree but is very appreciated.
Serbian column fir : less known than the spruce tree and the Caucasian fir, isn’t very adapted to the interior of houses but it’s dark green color makes it very distinguishable and beautiful.
Laurus Nobilis : it’s an evergreen that is similar to the nordmann fir, it’s very durable, the heterogeneity of its branches makes it very authentic and unique.
Another characteristic that is as important as the fir tree you’re going to choose is the size of the tree, it must be considered in a way that it adapts perfectly to your Christmas decoration.
A freshly cut fir tree will last longer, you also need to pay attention to its color (dark green is best) and to the quality of its branches, they shouldn’t be too fragile.
We also advise you to take a look and have a quick read about the origins and history of the fir tree, it’s very interesting.
Back to nature is this year’s trend :
An eco-friendly party, traditional, like it always has been, that’s what we want for this year’s Christmas, along with good company, friends and an ecological touch.
Including this year’s Christmas trends, carmine red, this very elegant color that you can find everywhere, especially on the red clothes of Santa Claus, it gives our Christmas decoration a natural aspect , in harmony with this year’s theme.
Put back into the closet all your plastic decorations, this year we’re using wood, natural wood, you may even consider making some of your own decorations, manually with your children, and maybe even sewing can be a your group activity since the whole family is around.
You may cut some branches from your fir tree and scatter them everywhere, even on the food table, in the dining room and in the living room.
Enlighten the room with candles in a natural, poetic way, this year is for EXAGGERATION.
Decoration Trends for Christmas 2021 :
Right under the windows is the perfect place for candles this year, it enlightens the interior and the exterior of your home, making it more “instagramable”.
Dinner tables are making the show this year. Well, they are used to wearing their best tablecloths at every end of the year, from table runners to your fanciest glasses and plates. That’s how you seduce everyone.
Christmas wreath, balls, tree toppers, tinsels, everything, bring everything, this year it’s all or nothing.
Don’t forget to hang your Christmas stockings, make sure to have each for every family member, so they can be filled with little toys, candy and small surprises from Santa.
For this Christmas, it’s more of a retro theme, retro everywhere, from the living room to the dining room, maybe even at the kids’ room.
The colors you need for an effective retro themed party are carmine red, dark olive green and gold. If you like using many colors, this year is for you my friend!
Along with the adequate colors, for a soft touch along with the retro style, we’re using velvet this year. Yes, luxurious and soft velvet will give your home a very nice touch, use it on the cushions, drapes and salon, use it everywhere, combine it with everything.
For the exterior, our advice is to focus on using natural light, candles, and light reflections along with wood, fir tree branches and snow decorations so that Santa Claus can identify your house and share his gifts with you.
What really is important this Christmas :
After almost 2 years of loneliness, zoom meetings, and sending virtual hugs to our family members, this year, we want a Christmas Eve that is full of love and serenity, far from our daily problems and routines, far from our computers and screens. We aspire to spend a charming evening in the grip of love, instead of fear. We aspire to a homely evening heralding the end of a tough year. However, we also want to laugh, carelessly, together, around the dining table all gathered as a family like we always used to before Covid 19, no masks, and no social distancing.
We’re not going to lie: It’s been so long since we have gone out without being afraid of catching something that will send us straight to bed. so long since we have all been reunited, and yes! We miss family gatherings a lot! Even the most introverted one of us, that one person who always shows up to surprise everyone, yes, even that one misses family reunions. This Christmas will be a revenge for all of what happened in these last two years, we are going to make up for all the lost dinners, celebrations and birthdays, in short we are going to make sure to have fun! By the way, the 24th of December coincides with a Friday, which means a long weekend with our families and friends, next to the chimney, under the reflections of the burning wood, that’s how we’re going to spend our holidays !
